We are setting up a small boutique guesthouse in Bur Dubai, about twelve rooms, and I keep going back and forth on whether each room needs its own rubbish bin or if that is overkill. My thinking is that guests will just leave small stuff on the desk or bedside if there is nowhere to put it, which makes housekeeping slower. But then again a bin in every room means twelve more things to empty, clean and replace liners on every single day, and our housekeeping team is small. I have stayed in places where there was no bin in the room and honestly it was annoying, I ended up with wrappers piled on the nightstand. So I am leaning towards having one, but then the question is size, small desk size or something bigger, and whether to put it in the bathroom instead. Would love to hear how other small hospitality setups handle this because I do not want guests complaining about something so basic.
